Gujarat Govt Will Change Pre- Primary School Rules: The Gujarat government had announced new rules for the registration of pre-primary schools. However, due to the stringent nature of these rules, pre-school operators expressed their opposition. The Gujarat Independent Pre-School Association made a representation to the state’s Chief Minister, Education Minister, and other officials, requesting amendments to these rules. Subsequently, the government has given a verbal assurance to modify the rules, considering their representation. A decision to amend the rules was made during a meeting involving senior officials from the education department, school management boards, and representatives of pre-primary school operators. These changes are expected to be implemented shortly.
Education Department Accepts School Operators’ Demands
The previously proposed rules included a mandatory 15-year registered lease agreement, an Education BU (Building Use) permission, a registration fee of ₹5,000 per class per year, and mandatory registration of the trust or organization. School operators had expressed dissatisfaction and opposed these rules. However, during a meeting held on Wednesday (January 1), some of these rules were relaxed. The education department accepted three key demands made by the school operators.
Relaxations in Rules
- Lease Agreement: Instead of a 15-year registered lease agreement, a 5-year notarized lease agreement will now suffice.
- Registration Fee: Instead of ₹5,000 per class annually, a single registration fee of ₹10,000 will be required for the entire school.
- Registration Deadline: The registration deadline for pre-primary schools has been extended from February by an additional six months.
Satisfaction Among School Operators
School operators had been protesting these rules in various ways. With the resolution of these issues by the state government, school operators have expressed satisfaction. It is noteworthy that the state government will soon officially announce these revised rules.
