How to Get a Good Score in UGC NET?

Reflecting better performance in UGC NET Result is not a cup of tea for every aspirant. The exam is usually conducted in three sessions. Each session will contain one paper of the MCQ based questions. Always be aware of the fact that all the questions are compulsory to attain, though there is no negative marking.

Exam Pattern

UGC Net is a pen and paper-based test where candidates need to fill the OMR sheet provided by the exam authority. The total exam will be conducted in three sessions. Each session will contain one paper.

  • The paper I or First Paper: The paper will comprise of 50 multiple choice based questions of 2 marks each. All the questions are mandatory to attain. This paper is set with the motive of assessing the research or teaching skill of the candidate. The paper will cover the topic like:
  • General awareness
  • Comprehension
  • Reasoning Aptitude
  • Divergent Thinking
  • Paper II or Second Paper: Like the paper I this paper will also contain 50 questions of objective nature of 2 marks which are essential to answer. The theme of the second paper will be the subject chosen by the candidate.
  • Paper III or Third Paper: Unlike, all the previous papers this paper will consist of 75 objective questions. Each question carries 2 marks and is compulsory in nature. The paper will include all the topics form the whole syllabus involving the electives without any options.

  • Make a Routine and Clock the same

Firstly, make routine as per your syllabus and capability to study the same. The topics which you want to prepare first must be the topmost in the schedule. Whereas, do not take the other topics as your least priorities. Prepare the topics in such a way so that you can easily overcome the last minute hustle-bustle. Allot a specific time for every topic. Each topic must be attempted. Prior to one month of the exam allot a minimum of 4-5 hours for each topic.

  • Mark all the studied subjects

Marking all the prepared subjects will help you in studying the leftover. Always stick to the self-made schedule and time table and focus on the syllabus. For literature candidates read the entire graduation and post-graduation syllabus.

  • Self-study

It is very usual to take coaching classes to form NET coaching centers in large batches. Besides, focus on your self-preparation too. In spite of the readymade notes and books, make notes by yourself specifically for your subject. In order to prepare such notes to take help from the reference books and the readymade notes. This will make the revision simpler and hassle-free.

  • Prioritize the important topics

While doing the revision session always give more attention to the important subjects rather than the less important ones. This is how you can cope up your weakest portions and strengthen them. Only after successful clearance of Paper I, you can for the further exam. The paper I is an MCQ covering the aptitude based topic.

  • Revisions

Make the last 15-20 days before the exam as the revision day. Revise the entire topic which you have studied till day one. Start giving both online and offline mock tests.
